Well, so much has been happening, so little space!!
Someone made a comment that we Scot's can't half ramble on, so, I jist thought I'd ramble on some more!!!
OK, Hamish first, he went to the orthopedic guys, EEeek £105 in taxis!!! He was x-rayed again, had a joint tap and a blood test, it was decided to hold off the operation until his cruciate ligament ruptures completely as it is only torn at the moment, and the leg is relatively stable. GREAT NEWS!!! But He will need it within 6 months! I tell you, I wish I'd had stuck with it and trained as a VET, £500 to tell me that!
Still, 6 months gives me more time to save up the £1850 needed for the operation.
So, the "front" part, or electrified part of the wheelchair is goin to have to take a break just now, I don't have a chance of raising almost £4000 at this moment in time. But, more GOOD NEWS!!
We raised enough funding to pay for and buy the manual chair part of the system.
My thanks to everyone who donated funds to me. I cannot tell you jist what a difference this alone has made to life!!
Yesterday was a strange day, the chair was due at the end of the week, around the 15th, no chair. I needed this shorter chair to get into my parents house for boxing day. I got lower and lower, not only Christmas day alone, but missing boxing day with the rest of the family too!! NO WAY!! I was on the phone and E mail to everyone. turns out it had sat in New York 6 days!! Then got caught in the fog at London for 4 days. So I accepted the fact, thought about the other folks who would not make it to their families due to the fog either. I must admit, I felt a little guilty moaning about a chair, when these guys were stranded in an airport. I do hope they all got there in the end.
Yesterday, I was woken by a parcel delivery, not the chair, but a suprise gift from a friend in USA. So, back to bed, bring bring....another parcel, but this one dropped onto the floor, something was rattling around, and it was marked all over with "handle with care" so I opened it, well, it was a beautiful horseSHOE, with feathers and leather backing, lovely, like a dreamcatcher, I've never seen anything like it, it is so beautiful. The message was witty, "A wee gift to bring Hamish and I luck, if it didn't, well, at least it was pretty!!" A lady from a chatroom had made it herself from a real SHOE from one of her horses. Thank you to her too!!
Back to bed, BringBring!! It was my chair!! They got it here on time!! I was crying with the emotion of it all. I put it all together, sat in it, and was amazed!! I can turn on a sixpence, it is over a foot shorter than the old one, and comfortable, wow!! The pain in my back actually decreasd as the day went on!! I cannot thank everyone enough for it, it is hard to explain, but, already it has made this disability easier to cope with. I feel like a woman on wheels, not a disabled person in a big cumbersome chair. I can actually see myself going out with friends in it and not being a hassle!!!
Now, I cannot wait for the other part, then I'll be completely independant!! Back to work, travel, going out, being ME!!!! YIPEEEEEE!!!
Well, I'd had so much luck, I popped to the shop with the dog, bought 4 lotto cards, and won £3 !!! What luck! I tell you, never get too depressed when the bad luck is here......it WILL get better, and, most probably, like me yesterday, all at once!!!
Well, I hope all my friends and other SHOES oot there have a wonderful, safe, happy Christmas!! May all your dreams come true, mine certainly have!
If I don't see you before the new year.....A'' ra' best fir 2007 a Happy New Year, may you have a wonderful time, good luck in life and love in your heart.
Take care everyone, thanks for the support, you all have made a HUGE difference to my life. Without you guys, I'd have found it all harder!!
Thank you,love n hugs,
HWxxx
