Yup, guess that smiley sums up the past few months for me really well!
Ok, where to begin? Probably by not attempting to blog straight after a 9 hr drive home from rainy Cardiff in Wet Wales!!
I was down playing wheelchair badminton. Taking part in the 4 Nations competition. It encompasses dwarfs, learning disability, and phhysical disability athletes. We had a HUGE entry, so word must be getting out about the availability of sport for those whom find sport a real challenge.
Apart from badminton, Ive been attending a few disabled athletics events, attaining a few wee medals along the way!!!
I took part in shotputt, discus, javelin and had a wee go at club throw too. Although the weather could have been better, again there is a majical feel to these events, so many happy, smiley faces and team work galore!! Some of these athletes have overcome such severe disabilities be it mentally or physically. It's the taking part and the sheer joy of acheivement that makes these days so very special. I hope many of you get just ione chance to go along and watch an event like these, belive me, you'll have an amazing day. The wettest, dreighest, dire weather cannot even wipe the smile from those faces!!
Hamish is doin great! He came to Cardiff with me, he was such an amazing help and security for me, in my first ever trip away alone in the wheelchair. There were folks I could call on for assistance, but during the other times, he was such an amazingly well behaved, helpful dog..I am so so proud of him. He really made it much much easier and less of a worry being alone without immediate care available at times.
I will try to update my guestbook with some pics an stuff, from some events, although due to Child Protection laws, I'll only post ones of myself. In the UK, we have introduced permit holders only allowed to photograph anywhere within a sports centre or grounds. This includes camera phones etc. Personally I think it is a GREAT idea!! Also means many of the photos will be gewnuinely of sports, rather than randome persons on a patch of grass, or a court etc. Wonder how many other countries adopt the same principle.......answers on the back of a postcard please!!!!!
Well ladies, I'm really poopered oot the noo, really should head to bed, rather than sit on SHOE all night catching up on everything I've missed recently, with all the goings on in my personal life. But, you'll be glad to hear, I'm not goin to bore you all with that just yet!!!
Time to go before I start my stupid rambling on again.....so as usual, you all take good care of yourselves, and your loved ones an pets........
Till next time.......
Cheeeeeriooo the nooooooooo!! xxxx
